Copresco Selected to Beta Test New Rip/Controller

Copresco has accepted responsibility for the beta testing of an experimental RIP/controller for digital color presses.

“The powerful system has the potential to streamline workflows and increase productivity for both color and black and white digital printing,” says Copresco president Steve Johnson. “As an on-demand printer where every minute counts, we are always looking for faster ways to produce jobs while optimizing quality.”

The new controller, which supports ICC profiles, may offer opportunities for more accurate color management than the Scitex and Fiery units Copresco currently uses. Other benefits include a more robust handling of variable data printing and the support of alternative page description languages for the text-heavy documents Copresco produces.

Text and graphics are handled separately to provide crisp copy and art reproduction. The system is linked to Copresco’s PC and Macintosh workstations through a digital network to provide seamless digital workflow.

Copresco was selected by Xerox for the testing project because of its expertise and in-depth experience in digital technology. Copresco has provided extensive technical feed-back to Xerox for many years.

Copresco has been a pioneer in digital on-demand printing since 1987. In 2001, the firm was honored with the Xerox Recognition Award for Sustained Excellence in Image Quality. The Award recognized Copresco’s continuing efforts to improve the performance of the Docutech.

Copresco specializes in digital on-demand printing of publications, books and manuals for clients in the general business, printing trade, technical and institutional fields.

The company is headquartered in Carol Stream, Ill.
