6180 Publishing System...

New Generation Docutech Adds More Fire Power

Copies Overnight has installed a Docutech 6180 network publishing system.
The new generation system — one of the first installed in the Chicago area — runs 3 pages per second, representing a 33% increase in speed from previous Docutech 135 models. Additional benefits include the ability to process digital print files faster and more efficiently, enhanced laser imaging quality and improved inline collating and stock handling capabilities.
"The 6180 is well-suited to a large production run digital printing firm like ours," said president Steve Johnson. "It gives us increased capacity to handle multiple high volume production runs and maintain our guarantee that 250,000 impressions will be delivered the next business day for each customer."

Customized Work

The 6180 also offers greater flexibility for customization. Documents can be personalized from data base files or mailing lists for applications like newsletters or targeted audience publications. Individual pages, indexes, cover letters and other pieces can be tailored to meet specific needs.
The new PostScript production system is linked to our three other Docutech publishing systems through our digital network.
Documents are printed with laser-sharp 600 dpi resolution from artwork or computer files received on removable media, our computer bulletin board or over the Internet. In addition to a broad range of PC and Macintosh applications, Copies Overnight handles highly technical applications like FrameMaker and Interleaf.

Finishing Touches

Docutech inline finishing operations include collating, index tab imprinting and insertion, corner and side stitching and tape binding.
Complex jobs often require additional finishing operations, including cutting, folding, drilling, plastic comb and wire binding, saddle stitching, inserting sets into binders and shrink wrapping.
The 6180 is another example of our commitment to leadership in digital technology and printing on-demand. So when you need help with looseleaf or bound documents, call the company that can meet all your needs.

FAQ

Last month's story about our Web site raised questions from newcomers to cyberspace. We'll deal with these Frequently Asked Questions as our editorial space permits.
Q. What's the difference between the Internet and the World Wide Web?
A. That's a good question...one that many users may have been afraid to ask. The Internet is a series of inter-networked computers that provide a backbone for connections worldwide. These interconnected computers provide a variety of services, such as e-mail, file transfers, IRC, newsgroups...and the World Wide Web.

The Internet was started by the military during the Cold War to link the Pentagon with its weapons specialists in colleges and corporations.

The World Wide Web is the collective name for the "web" of hypermedia pages accessible via the Internet. The Web is extremely popular because it provides a graphical interface to Internet resources. In other words, you can get cool pictures, illustrations and info from literally millions of Web sites...like Copies Overnight's at www.onight.com.

Please let us know if you have questions about our digital technology and printing on-demand services.
