Copresco Captures Two Print Excellence Awards

   Copresco has been honored with two Achievement in Print Excellence awards by the Printing Industry of Illinois/Indiana Association.
   We received a Best of Category Pinnacle award for a four-color calendar and a Certificate of Merit for a looseleaf brand education manual.
   The two awards made it a clean sweep in the digital color category of the inaugural competition.

Giant Strides

   The high-tech wall calendar, which serves as a technical visual aid in ophthalmologists’ offices, contains medical photos of the eye that had to be reproduced with acute accuracy and color rendition.

Sheets Versus Pages

   Q. In last month’s issue, you said “1 sheet = 2 pages” or something like that. I’m more confused than ever. Pages, sheets. leaves; aren’t these just different words for the same thing?
   A. Try this. Open up a book, any book as long as it has numbered pages. Turn to, say, page 11. It will be on the right-hand side of the book. Now hold that page firmly between your thumb and forefinger. Without releasing it, turn it over. What do you see now? Voila! Page 12. Even though you are still holding the same sheet or leaf, you are looking at a different page.

Who Cares?

   Why does this matter? Here’s why: If you ask Copresco for the price and turnaround for a 200-page book, you’d receive an estimate of $3.69 per book. 700 books x 200 pages=140,000 pages, so turnaround is next day (per our 250,000 overnight guarantee).
   When the job arrives here, and it turns out that the 200 pages are really 200 two-sided sheets, the size of the book just doubled! The price is now $6.96 per book, an 87% increase, and it may take another day to produce!

Protect Your Financial Info

   Here are some simple tips to prevent the theft of confidential financial information:

• The next time you order checks, just have your initials (instead of your first name) and last name imprinted. If your checkbook is stolen, the thief won’t know if you use your initials or your first name. But, your bank knows how you sign your checks.
• When writing checks to pay credit card accounts, do not put the whole account number on the "For" line. Just write the last four numbers.
  The credit card company knows the rest of your number, and anyone who might be handling your check as it passes through all the processing channels won't have access to it.
