United
Airlines passengers are getting an inside look at Coprescos modern
digital printing facilities, thanks to an infomercial produced by Boise
Cascade.
The video scenes were taken from footage shot at
our plant for the introduction of SPLOX, a new paper delivery system.
Boise is one of several prominent industry suppliers who
often ask Copresco to test their wares.
We needed a high
volume digital printer with a workflow geared to exceptionally fast turnaround
who could benefit from an even faster and more efficient bulk paper handling
system, says Vince Phelan, director of product management and marketing
communications.
Boise also required a digital printer
with tightly controlled processes and a facility large enough to accommodate
extensive testing without disturbing daily on-demand production.
Coprescos 14,000 sq. ft. plant, with its spacious production area and
hospital-clean environment, made a perfect fit.
Armed with
stopwatches and video cameras, Boise engineers and technicians timed and
recorded every aspect of Coprescos paper handling operations. Skids of
prototype boxes were delivered for extensive testing and evaluation.
After months of onsite research, Boise unveiled the new
Splox paper delivery system that holds 2,500 cut-size sheets and provides an
easier way to lift, move and load paper than traditional 10-ream junior
cartons.
We were eager to participate in this project because we
felt that cut-size paper was created for small shops to feed copiers, not with
a digital workflow in mind, Johnson stated.
Following the research and development phase of the
project, Copresco staff members were asked to star in a video series, putting
the new packaging system through its paces during three strenuous days of
filming.

Steve Johnson played a leading role via taped interviews for the manufacturing
research, sales training and promotional productions.
Coprescos cooperation in the development of
this new packaging product has been invaluable, and the generous use of the
companys facilities for filming was praiseworthy, says marketing
manager Kelly Jones.
As a
leader in digital technology since the inception of on-demand printing,
Copresco has served as a consultant and technical adviser to equipment
manufacturers like Canon, Heidelberg, Imation, NexPress and Xerox.
We are continually working to improve image
quality, press performance and production efficiency, Steve concluded.
