Client Software Solves FTP File Transfer Problems

Copresco continues to receive a wide range of questions and comments from our Overnight Lite readers. We welcome your responses and will regularly publish items of general interest in future issues.

Web Browser Glitch

   Q. I have just upgraded my Netscape browser and find that I can no longer use my web browser to upload files to your FTP site. Do you know what happened?
   A. For unknown reasons, Netscape decided to drop FTP functionality some time ago.
You have three choices to solve the problem: switch to Internet Explorer, obtain FTP client software or send your files as e-mail attachments.
For better or worse, Microsoft’s free Explorer has become the industry standard. Virtually all Macintosh and Windows operating systems have the browser built in so you can use our drag-and-drop web interface to transfer your files to our FTP site.

Fast and Easy

FTP offers numerous benefits. It is highly reliable, extremely fast and easy to use. FTP works with any computer platform. Files are not exposed to corruption and are transmitted in real time so you know when they have been received.

A Better Choice

For optimum print files transfer, you may want to consider using FTP client software.
Just go to the Copresco website and click on Send Us A Job!
You’ll find links to demo shareware versions that can be instantly downloaded for both PC and Mac users. They’re easy to use and reasonable, just $30 or so. Try a couple on for size and pick the one that you like best.
Armed with your new client software, you can upload your files seamlessly to our FTP site.
And you won’t have to worry about any more browser updates or changes that make your life miserable.

Added Security

If you decide to use client software, we can even set up a secure and password-protected FTP folder for your (or your company’s) exclusive use. It’s an ideal situation for customers who send lots of files to Copresco. Just give us a call.

The Perils of E-Mail

As we have said before, e-mail isn’t the best answer for sending print files. E-mail files that travel through cyberspace are more susceptible to corruption.
File sizes are also limited by many e-mail servers, which is a major disadvantage for the large jobs that Copresco regularly receives.
